Paul Goggins MP

Minister of State
Paul Goggins was promoted to Minster of State on 29th June 2007.
He previously held the position of Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Northern Ireland Office from 5th May 2006.
He was born in Manchester in 1953 and has been MP for Wythenshawe & Sale East from 1997.
Paul was Parliamentary Private Secretary to David Blunkett MP (2000 -2003) and to John Denham MP (1998 -2000)
Before entering Parliament in 1997, Paul was National Director of Church Action on Poverty (1989 – 1997). He was Founder Chair of the UK Coalition Against Poverty and is currently Secretary to All-Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty.
Paul is currently a trustee of the Russian European Trust and was Founding Chair of Salford Law Centre.
He previously worked as a social worker for 15 years and is married with 3 children.
His ministerial responsibilities at the NIO are Criminal Justice, Security, Policing, and Prisons.
