Silver Collection

Over 300 pieces of contemporary silver that make up the prestigious Silver Trust Downing Street collection will be on display in Hillsborough Castle from  August 4 to 15 and can be viewed by the public as part of the normal tour programme.

The collection includes a centre piece, plates, condiments and cruet sets, bowls and cutlery designed by leading British silversmiths.

The collection is used at No10 Downing Street for all state visits, the most recent being the visit of US President George W Bush. It was first unveiled for the state visit of French President Francois Metterand in June 1993.

The collection is owned by the Silver Trust and was first presented to the then Prime Minister John Major in 1993. It is permanently housed at Downing Street except during the summer recess when it tours different parts of the country.

Following the display at Hillsborough Castle the collection will then travel to Dublin for a further exhibition.

Hillsborough Castle will be open to the public for general tours from August 4 until September 12 .

All tours must be booked in advance by ringing 02892 682244
