The Lady Grey Room
Originally an ante-room to the present drawing room it has become one of the most popular rooms in the house for both visitors, and for official business.
It was the scene of meetings between Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Bush in April 2003.
The room has a number of interesting paintings, including one entitled Mother and Child by Sarah Purser.
There are three other items in the room of particular interest. Two are bookcases, one of which is the only piece of furniture originally in the house during the time it was home to the Marquis of Downshire.
The second bookcase was made in Harland & Wolff for the White Star Liner Britannic, but was removed from the ship when it was requisitioned by the Royal Navy in the First World War.
The third item is a chess set made by Anto Brennan in which the pieces are made in the image of our politicians and other key people on the Northern Ireland scene.
The room is named after the wife of the last Governor, Lord Grey of Naughton, it is suggested the room is haunted.
