Throne Room
The Throne room was built to replace two smaller rooms destroyed by a fire in 1934. In earlier times it would have been used as a ballroom, and a place for entertaining guests. In modern times it is used for numerous events including charity receptions, large dinner parties, political meetings and press conferences.
The main features within the room include; two chairs of homage, based on a throne located in Malahide Castle that were made for the visit of King George IV to Dublin in 1821, a gilt thread and silk amorial displaying the Royal Coat of Arms and portraits of the five governors of Northern Ireland from 1922 to 1972.
