Peace award success
NIO wins top Civil Service award
The Northern Ireland Office has scooped the top prize at the annual Whitehall & Westminster World Civil Service Awards ceremony.
The NIO’s Peace Process Team – which is reflective of the entire Department - lifted both the prestigious Cabinet Secretary Award and the Leadership Award at the ceremony in Lancaster House.
The judges clearly felt that leadership shown by the Northern Ireland Office in turning the vision of the Good Friday and St Andrews Agreement into reality made it the outstanding entry across all the categories this year.
Secretary of State Shaun Woodward has congratulated the Department on its success.
Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service congratulated the Peace Process Team, and said that the team has been recognised for the dedication to the peace process and going the mile to ensure the peace process is kept alive.
