The NIO Statistics and Research Branch maintains several statistical databases, most of which stretch back over a number of years. These include databases on recorded crime, court proceeding and sentencing, juvenile justice, and prisons. A number of our regular publications are drawn from these databases.
Some of the products produced by NIO SRB are national statistics, bearing the National Statistics logo. They are produced to the high professional standards as set out in the National Statistics Code of Practice. This code, and the first two of its supporting protocols were published by the National Statistician on 11 October 2002 and can be accessed via the following link to National Statistics Online:

All NIO SRB statistical products undergo regular quality assurance reviews to ensure that they meet customer needs. They are produced free from any political interference.
