The Carriage of Explosives

The European Union directs that regulations on the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment be updated (approximately) every 2 years. Responsibility for making legislation on explosives and certain other dangerous goods which are controlled as explosives in Northern Ireland is reserved to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Office Firearms and Explosives Branch fulfils this responsibility by making regulations on the carriage of those goods whilst the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSE NI) make regulations on the carriage of other dangerous goods.
