Policing is a model for other countries - Woodward
Wednesday 12 September 2007

Policing arrangements in Northern Ireland are a model for other countries around the globe, Secretary of State Shaun Woodward MP told delegates at the Police Federation’s Annual Conference today.
The Secretary of State also praised the commitment of police officers for the way in which they have embraced change.
Shaun Woodward said: “Northern Ireland has a bright future. The policing arrangements here are fast becoming a model for many other countries; the PSNI is the equal of any other police force in the world and can be proud of the standard set and the success achieved.
“Your dedicated service to policing during a period of great change in Northern Ireland has helped to create a police service that is supported by all sections of the community and is respected by other police forces across the world. Successful and effective policing only happens through good police work by police officers and police support staff.
“All parties need to work together to continue to build community confidence and to maintain and build on the progress we have already made. I know that the dedicated men and women of the PSNI are well able for that task”.
